Essentials Magazine launches on the iPad and has made a great impression, being featured by Apple at launch. Director Jamie Durrant is one of our first self service clients and taught himself the Oomph tools using our Online LearningHQ.

MEDIA RELEASE – 16 MAY 2012.

Essentials Magazine released this week onto the iPad and wow what a fantastic first edition! Essentials Director, Jamie Durrant rang up Oomph a few short weeks ago to investigate our platform and see how it comapred to some of the other global publishing platforms. Jamie quickly signed up to be an Oomph Self Service customer – meaning that he used our LearningHQ to teach himself how to use the Oomph platform.

The magazine compliments gorgeous photography and words with clever interactivity, including music exclusives, mouth watering recipes and hotel reviews. Yes I do want to go back to New York! Jamie has quickly introduced interactive advertising into the magazine which helps drive additional revenues for this exciting new magazine. Apple were also impressed and have featured Essentials in their Travel section on the Newsstand. Apple have recently introduced sub categories in the Newsstand making iPad magazines a lot easier to find.

You can download Essentials Magazine here.

See Media Release Below.

ESSENTIALS MAGAZINE LAUNCHES NEW IPAD MAGAZINE

It’s an absolute revolution, and one set to save the independent publishing industry – Jamie Durrant, Director of Essentials Magazine.

Victorian based publisher Essentials magazine has launched its debut iPad magazine internationally. Essentials (express) was developed to take advantage of the New iPad Retina display with what director/editor Jamie Durrant calls “super high resolution” food and art photography.

“It’s an absolute revolution, and one set to save the independent publishing industry,” says Durrant.

Essentials, a much loved culture and arts magazine has been read by up to 2.4 million food and art savvy tourists over the past 6 years. Previously distributed as a 70-page hard cover glossy to food and wine touring regions including Canberra, High Country Victoria, Melbourne and Yarra Valley, Durrant says Essentials will remain in print; however is now capable of growing to meet its new international iPad audience.

The magazine was founded in 2006 to promote the then, less known businesses in Victoria’s High Country. It’s a trend that has continued and Essentials has grown a reputation for unearthing new food and cultural experiences. With the iPad edition, Durrant has expanded this view further with articles covering destinations from New York to Bali, while retaining its strong local appeal.

“Essentials is a photographic degustation,” says Durrant, referring to its rich visual content. “As a child, I had a strong interest in photography and publishing, and have strong memories of flicking through a huge pile of National Geographic magazines that my father (realist artist Ivan Durrant) had collected. I think my love for photographic composition started there, and over the years developed from hours spent pouring over collections of images taken by Ivan, as visual references for this paintings.”

“The last 18 months has been incredibly difficult for independent publishers, particularly ones such as ourselves who rely on advertising revenue from local small businesses. For the first time we are able to compete with major magazines. We are no longer limited in page space by cost and are now guided by our own creativity – a desire to work hard to produce a compelling product. I think we’ve created the perfect launch issue – it’s a dream come true really.”

Made available to 1.13 million Australians and 35 million iPad owners world-wide, via the Apple App Store, Essentials (express) is one of the first Australian independently published magazines to take advantage of the new iPad’s technology.

“It’s a serious breakthrough,” says Durrant, ‘both the Australian software developers (Mogeneration) and Apple – they’ve finally got it right”.

It was only a little over a month ago that Durrant heard about Sydney software developers Mogeneration and their Oomph publishing platform, which has helped major magazines such as Gourmet Traveller and Qantas digitally launch on the iPad. Within hours Durrant began producing a digital magazine edition, taking advantage of Oomph’s beautifully smooth swipe navigation and high resolution multimedia components such as in-page video, sound and digital galleries.

Essentials (express) Magazine, has a strong arts based content, and includes several HD digital art slide galleries built into articles, including stunning previews: Fred Williams – Infinite Horizons (NGV), Grace Kelly – Style Icon (Bendigo Art Gallery) and The Benalla Art Gallery’s impressive Ledger Collection. Also featured is an ‘in-cover’ music single release of Melbourne rock musician Davey Lane.

“I don’t believe that print is dead, but I’m totally convinced that the new release iPad with the Retina display is a game changer for presenting art. If a $560 base model iPad can outperform all of our expensive graphic design monitors, it’s only a good thing for the general public. If people cannot manage to get to the art galleries, we’d doubt they could find a better way to see art than via our new magazine.”

Essentials (express) Magazine is now available in the Apple App Store Newsstand for $2.99 single issue. Direct App download link.

4th May 2012

Big news for all the AFL supporters out there. The iPad magazine version of the AFL Record is now available and very proudly powered by Oomph. The Record took pride of place in the Apple Newsstand this morning.

“As well as incorporating a host of elements from the print edition, including features, stories, news and views, analysis of the game and a 15-page statistical match centre for each game per round, the AFL Record iPad edition features complementary video and extensive photo galleries.”“The Record is a football institution,” said AFL Media’s Head of Content, Matt Pinkney. “We’re pleased to enhance its reach and depth with an optimised version for iPad. Over the coming months we’ll be adding new features to both the print and digital version to ensure we continue to deliver great content and great value to footy fans.”

It is a remarkable achievement for the team at the AFL to create the content every week under such tight timelines. Team lists are provided on Thursday morning with the app going live every Thursday night. The team made this possible by utilising a number of the Oomph productivity tools and use of templates and automation to achieve such a fast turnaround.

We especially like their promo line “It’s taken 100 years, but now the Record is available at home, as well as at the game.”

Today Adelaide University launched their e-Science magazine on the iPad - aimed at encouraging school students to study science at University. Find out more about how this progressive university is using the iPad to attract new science students.

4th May 2012

Today Adelaide University launched their e-Science magazine on the iPad - aimed at encouraging school students to study science at University.

Here at Oomph, we were first introduced to Adelaide University when Professor Bob Hill spoke at the Tablet Wars event we held with AIMIA last year. Professor Hill was a passionate about using technology to attract new minds to science and set up a program where all first year science students were given iPads – he wanted to make information accessible to all. We are thrilled to have worked with Professor Hill and e-Science editor Melanie Bagg to create the iPad version of this magazine.

The iPad version contains everything you’d expect from an Oomph powered iPad magazine including social sharing (twitter, facebook, email) embedded videos, animations, page swaps, slide shows and more. The university is passionate about listening to their students and have put feedback options on every page allowing the reader to continue to influence the future of the magazine.

We wish them well and look forward to working closely with them over the next few months.

Interactive magazine to promote science

THE University of Adelaide wants to encourage more school students to consider studying science by relating classroom activities to careers in the field.

As a result, today the university is launching e-Science, a free interactive magazine available on the iPad and web.

Faculty of Sciences executive dean Professor Bob Hill said he had heard some teachers were using the 10 Big Questions that the university’s science curriculum was based on and wanted to find a way to support them.

Urrbrae Agricultural High School science teacher Ann-Louise George said: “I think a lot of the kids don’t see themselves as being scientists, just in a lab mixing chemicals, but this deals with physics, chemistry and biology and will show them all the different types of jobs associated.”

You can download the app from iTunes

May 2012

Here at Oomph, we know and appreciate the hard work that goes into designing, developing and publishing digital content. All of us at Oomph would like to help make that work a little easier by supporting the Oomph publishing community through a number of Oomph sponsored initiatives. One of the first such initiatives is the launch of the Oomph User Group. This group is going to be lead by our Creative Technologist Tony Redhead here at OomphHQ. He is a hands on expert in the world of tablet design and is passionate about helping you all create amazing iPad applications.

We want to hear from you – please fill in the survey at the bottom of this post.

What’s in it for you?

The aim of the Oomph User Group is to build a community of tablet designers and publishers, provide an environment where users can meet, on a regular basis, to participate in discussions, presentations about topics related to Oomph and digital publishing.

We feel the opportunity to take advantage of peer-to-peer learning opportunities will provide a general level of support that goes beyond forums and wiki’s and will both inspire those attending, help them in their work and help us create an even better product.

How the Oomph User Group will operate:

We’ll be holding regular, agenda based meetings once a quarter in a convenient meeting location. The meetings will initially be held in Sydney CBD and, based upon the response to the initial meetings, possibly in other cities in the future. At these meetups we’ll share inside info about new product develooments in the platform or company, invite one of the group to present their latest work or ideas, a presentation by an industry representative using Oomph, a tips and tricks session and Q&A to round out the evening.

Can’t make the evening?

No worries, we’ll be taking notes and video that we’ll share with the wider group.

We’ll also be running User Group specific webinars to disseminate information about new products, features to released or other communications relevant to the group. For a broader general audience, information, including “how-to” video guides and “case studies”, will be published on a regular basis and I want to establish a regular monthly webinar. Each webinar will be recorded and access to those recordings provided via the website and forums. Moving forward we hope the user group will encourage discussion via the Oomph forums and that forum moderators will come from senior members of the group.

Are you interested in participating?

Oomph CEO, Keith Ahern Oomph between trips to US, UK and Europe as we continue to grow our global footprint. Keith shares his observations and insights from his travels including the launch of the new iPad in NYC.

May 2012

We have always driven Oomph forward based 50% on listening to customers and 50% on our strong opinions on where this industry is going. This leading and listening has helped us create one of the the best tablet publishing platforms out there.

Highest average iMonitor ratings

Australian iPad apps score very highly on the McPheter’s iMonitor global app rating system. Many of which are powered by Oomph. In fact, of all platforms that publish more than 20 titles, Oomph has the highest average rating. This means Oomph apps consistently make good use of rich interactivity, navigation and stability.

This didn’t go unnoticed by many of the publishers that I met on my visit to New York. In particular, they were very impressed with the quality and interactivity of Oomph iPad magazines. I went to NYC half expecting to get lost in the noise but instead there was lot of interest and it was great to hear praise heaped upon the Oomph powered titles. Several big name US publishers are now trialling Oomph for both magazines and one-shot apps.

The shelf life of tablet magazines and the new iPad

I was in New York when the new iPad was launched. I bought mine at Grand Central station which is a giant Apple store with a train station attached. Despite having a great relationship with Apple we did not have any early access to the new iPad. We were very happy to see that ALL Oomph content looked fantastic on the new iPad. In fact our first Oomph iPad publication – the June 2010 issue of Gourmet Traveller from ACP looked fantastic on the new iPad. The text was rendered at the full resolution of the new iPad. In other words, Oomph content has a long digital shelf life and apps do not need to be optimised for the iPad, it already is. There is still work to be done to make the app optimal on the new iPad and we will be releasing app updates beginning this month.

In the next few months you will see many exciting developments for oomph including Oomph for iPhone, Oomph Live, OomphBox desktop helper, sharing to Pinterest, Oomph self publishing (and entry level prices for the motivated self starter) and more – all designed to help our customers capitalise on the furious uptake of tablets.

Right now, tablet publishing is about creating an ROI for the investment of time, energy and resource. In a recent blog, I explained why we are for now, focusing on making the Oomph iPad publishing tools world class rather than focus on an Android tablet solution. There is little doubt that the likes of Samsung, Motorola/Google and Amazon will begin making bigger inroads in the tablet market but right now, there’s no denying the iPad owns this space.

Until next time,

Keith Ahern, CEO Oomph

Tablet publishing right now is about creating an ROI for the investment of time, energy and resource. Oomph CEO, Keith Ahern gives insight to why Oomph is for now focusing on iOS more than cross platform.

May 2012

Oomph CEO, Keith Ahern shares the Oomph position on cross platform, Android in particular.

First of all we love competition in the tablet device space, theres nothing more we would like than serious competition to:

drive down the cost of tablets

allow more publisher friendly business models

Both of the above are win-win for Oomph and our customers.

We bought the first Android phone, the Google G1 in 2009 and since then we have worked with many android phones and tablets including the Samsung Galaxy 7”, Asus tablet, and most recently Amazon Kindle Fire. We created several apps for Android including Truelocal (2009), Kraft iFood (2010) and most prominently The Australian (tablet – 2010).

The Australian on Samsung Galaxy 7” is powered by an Android version of Oomph, however it is way behind the iPad version of Oomph. We decided to focus on iOS for 2011/2012 because:

Android users are much less inclined to pay for content http://allthingsd.com/20110527/android-users-like-apps-but-dont-like-paying-for-them/

Android growth is in devices (phones more so than tablets), not necessarily users who are using appshttp://labs.chitika.com/mobiledominance/

Android app development is difficult to the point of being impossible to provide a good experience across all android deviceshttp://thenextweb.com/mobile/2012/03/30/the-shocking-toll-of-hardware-and-software-fragmentation-on-android-development/

2011/2012 Better features, less effort = better ROI

In early 2011 we sat down and prioritised which of following we would spend our development time and money on:

Interactive Features

Workflow tools for fasters/cheaper production

Cross platform support

We decided on features on the leading platform – the iPad and workflow on Mac and PC. If we focused on cross platform you end up with a non-optimal iPad experience we decided thats not a good thing. Follow the money, and the money, for the next 18 months is on iPad.

For the vast majority of our customers it’s all about ROI. We think that in most cases offering Android will not result in additional revenue, in fact we think the opposite, the support overhead means it will cost more money to support (both us and publishers) than revenue gained.

Our plan going forward

Continue to improve workflow of Oomph tools such as OomphBox

Offer an Android replica solution for customers who must have it

Ramp up work on our HTML5 version for launch in the 2nd half of this year, this will meet android needs too.

Target the top android device that has more than 20% of the entire tablet market (no clear leader yet)

As seen on Shoestringlaunch.com April 2012.

With one-in-four Australian households expected to own a tablet by 2015* and an expanding level of companies from variety of sectors embracing tablets, Oomph focuses solely on helping clients take advantage of the unprecedented opportunities for brands, business models and customer engagement via its easy-to-use and feature rich solution.

“It represents a new focus and fresh approach for our business. Mogeneration will remain as the parent company, but Oomph will have a greater presence in the marketplace and will be supported by a team working purely on the implementation of the platform.” says Mogeneration CEO, Keith Ahern.

“Oomph is now as dynamic as the apps we want our clients to create. Oomph will deliver life, movement and the joy of tablet technology to our clients and product users.”

“Too often technology companies are viewed as cold and lifeless. Oomph’s mission and brand is about delivering an engaging and interactive experience to clients and their readers. Oomph has been built to allow business to captivate the true essence of tablets such as the iPad. It’s all about see, hear, touch and engagement”

“Oomph’s simply smart feature set enables companies to focus on design and creativity, while it looks after the technical development and support.”

“By fostering innovation and working closely with our clients, Oomph empowers companies to create excellence by truly capturing the true essence of tablet device functionality.”

“A recent innovation within Oomph was the integration of social media tools. We believe this will become an increasingly important way for people to discover new apps – when their friends promote and share their favourite apps. The integration of live Facebook and Twitter feeds, email and sharing has been embraced, especially in our consumer titles.”

Recently adding StreetPress, PwC, CSIRO Publishing, Hardie Grant, Sterling Publishing, Maxim, the Taxation Institute to its impressive client list that also boasts ACP, Haymarket, Fitness First, News Limited and Oxford University Press – companies are embracing the extra Oomph the platform delivers and successfully publishing on tablets.

“While our core market is magazine publishing, Oomph’s feature rich platform is also being used by a growing portfolio of businesses across wide-ranging industry for branded apps, engaging advertising and enterprise communications.”

“We expect the range of our portfolios and user numbers to further expand as an increasing number of companies see it as a crucial part of being an innovative brand, establishing market leadership and reaching global markets,” said Ahern.

“Oomph launches as a result of a burgeoning demand in Australia and overseas for the company’s core product and specialist skills in this area,” says Mogeneration CEO, Keith Ahern.

Freelance Art Director Lizi Hamer and Design & Art Director Nathan Lyttleton were engaged for the development of the new brand and Oomph website.

Oomph, the iPad platform behind leading titles such as Harper's Bazaar, Gourmet Traveller, FourFourTwo and Street Press Australia’s Three magazine, is supporting the next generation of magazine publishing professionals as the sponsor of Publishers Australia’s Young Minds initiative.

April 5th 2012

Oomph, the iPad platform behind leading titles such as Harper’s Bazaar, Gourmet Traveller, FourFourTwo and Street Press Australia’s Three magazine, is supporting the next generation of magazine publishing professionals as the sponsor of Publishers Australia’s Young Minds initiative.

Oomph will provide commercial support as well as training to the group, which is aimed at under-35s working in the Australian magazine publishing industry. Their support will help Young Minds, who formed last year, to further expand their projects for 2012.

Matthew Green, General Manager of Publishers Australia, welcomed the sponsorship. “The Young Minds committee has generated a thriving community in publishing and stimulated a great deal of intelligent, forward-thinking debate. Now with Oomph’s support, the team can develop events with even greater traction and value for
our members.”

Lisa Walton, Oomph Marketing Director, said: “Young Minds are the future of publishing and we want to be on that journey. We are passionate about helping the publishing industry embrace the opportunity that digital publishing can provide and we think there’s a great synergy by working with this group.”

The sponsorship was announced on Tuesday night at a Young Minds event in Sydney, where around 70 guests gathered for a panel discussion about “Winning in Publishing”. Four winners from last year’s Publishers Australia Excellence Awards offered their insight into how to create successful publishing brands in print, online and on tablets.

The speakers were Focal Attractions’ Tim Burrowes, founder of media and marketing brand Mumbrella, Trevor Treharne from Haymarket Media’s soccer title FourFourTwo, Michael Ryan from Fitness First publisher Active Media Group and Westwick-Farrow Art Director Julie Wright.

A number of winning entries at last year’s Publishers Australia Excellence Awards used the Oomph platform, including Fitness First, which won ‘Best App on Mobile or Tablet Device’ and Haymarket Media’s FourFourTwo, awarded ‘Best Integrated Brand’ for the third consecutive year.

Young Minds will hold a series of events over the course of the year. Like them onFacebook for updates.

Encore Magazine, the sister publication to the well known Mumbrella website, is Australia’s leading trade publication for the media and entertainment industry and now in partnership with Oomph it can be downloaded from the App Store.

Targeting the media, marketing and entertainment industry, we decided this was an excellent magazine to support to showcase the iPda publishing opportunities including rich interactive advertising.

Focal Attractions website Mumbrella has been a leading light in Australia’s marketing, media and advertising industry including being named as Australia’s website of the year at the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards in 2011. The Encore Print magazine cover has the image of an iPad on it – you can download it here.

30th March 2012

As featured in the Publisher’s Australia Website.

On the 15th March, Apple launched the new iPad into Australia. Like most of our clients, we were excited to see how our Oomph powered iPad magazines would look on the much hyped new retina display. We were not disappointed, they look incredible.

However, over the past week there has been a lot of media commentary about how some magazines ”look terrible on the new iPad”, where some images look blurry and text illegible.

In this article, we explain why the new iPad’s retina display makes some magazines look great while others are look pixelated. We also explain the different processes used by digital publishing platforms and why for publishers, the new iPad can present wonderful opportunities for digital magazines.

What’s the problem?

Some platforms use images as their content format such as PNG or JPEG images to represent pages, so what you see on screen is a static image. its really not much more than a slideshow. Additionally if the content is available in portrait and landscape then the size of the download doubles – one image per orientation.

Using images as content means that text and line art are rendered at a certain size that suits one screen resolution, which is not very forward thinking. Because the source images are pixels rather than vectors the pages look fuzzy or pixelated on anything other than the screen they were designed for. Using images for content may also cause limitations with interactivity as the app can’t really tell the difference between a page containing words and a page containing a photo.

Some magazines do look incredible. Publishing platforms, such as but not limited to Oomph, that use resolution independent files such as PDF, SVG and HTML to produce iPad magazines will look awesome on the new iPad. ACP Magazines’ Gourmet Traveller from June 2010 renders its text incredibly sharply on the new iPad, no changes needed. We are not going to say resolution independent pages are future proof but we are saying that JPEG or PNG pages of text are a really bad idea.

Magazine publishers put a huge amount of time and energy into creating rich curated content. Moving forward, publishers can take further advantage of the new iPad by increasing the resolution of the rendered images. This will have an impact on file size – the more photos used the bigger the impact. Depending on the photographic nature of your publication you may want to include higher res images.

The new iPad is finally worthy of the written word, just make sure people can read it!

At OomphHQ.com we love the new iPad, and we have no doubt that the future is looking very bright for publishers transitioning to digital.

May 2012

iMonitor

Australia’s Three Magazine has been named one of the 20 best iPad magazine apps in the world according to iMonitor figures released in early March 2012 published by US research group McPheters & Company. StreetPress Australia’s Managing Editor Andrew Mast , “We were aiming for a Golden Globe nomination but being ranked alongside Martha Stewart means more than any statuette ever could.” Great work StreetPress Australia.

Get Your App Accredited!

We are now working with McPheters & Company, the business that produces the iMonitor database. iMonitor™ tracks publications distributed through dedicated tablet apps on more than 100 discrete variables. They are currently tracking more than 3500 apps from over 60 countries, with more being added each week. iMonitor™ provides app publishers with rigorous evaluation of their apps, in terms of App Design, Functionality and Media Content.

Many Oomph magazine and news style apps are ranked in the top 80 percentile of iMonitor apps and as part of our agreement with McPheters we have access to additional research, briefings and reports.

iMonitor also rates developers and Oomph currently has an average ranking of 11.7. This is the highest global score of any developer that has over 20 Apps being ranked. Special mention to StreetPress Australia – Three Magazine and ACP Magazines – Gourmet Traveller both ranked as 5 star gold rankings.

What does iMonitor mean for you?

iMonitor is the leading certification program globally for magazine and newspaper style apps. The obvious benefit of being highly ranked on iMonitor shows your apps is of a high quality and this can be used to increase advertising revenues.

It’s a great reason to engage with your Oomph account manager to help provide you with insights and advice around how to improve your ranking and ultimately create a better iPad magazine. This knowledge will allow us to continually assist our clients with market leading insights.

Note: Self service clients who have not paid for account management will still be able to access iMonitor certification but will not be given a consultation by Oomph. Contact us if you would still like the relevant logos and proof of certification.

From iMonitor

Since April of 2010, iMonitor™ has been providing app publishers with rigorous evaluation of their apps, in terms of App Design, Functionality and Media Content. To date, iMonitor has assessed over 5000 apps – most more than once. App quality is highly variable. Of the apps we have evaluated, almost a third have significant malfunctions which can include download issues, spontaneous crashes, links that fail or audio/video content that does not play properly – or turn off the way it should.

Both advertisers and consumers need a way to avoid apps that are unlikely to live up to expectations. iMonitor Certification allows publishers to receive a thorough assessment of the quality of each individual app, and if certification is granted, use it to document app quality to these important constituencies. iMonitor Certification indicates that an app is free of malfunctions, and is in the top 20% of all apps evaluated. Additionally, iMonitor Certified apps are awarded stars based on the iMonitor rating system:

How It Works

Publishers can submit their apps for evaluation and receive detailed reports of how they perform against our evaluative criteria. If an app earns certification, the publisher has the right to use the appropriate iMonitor Certified symbol for a 12 month period in promoting the app to both consumers and advertisers. Since iMonitor re-evaluates apps when they are updated, if an app no longer is deserving of its certification the publisher will have 30 days to correct the problem or its certification will be withdrawn and the publisher will be required to withdraw any materials in which the iMonitor certification logo appears. The certification process occurs automatically for apps of iMonitor subscribers which meet the criteria and incurs no additional charge. A publicly accessible database of iMonitor Certified Apps is maintained at www.iMonitorCertified.com.

March 22nd 2012.

Yesterday, the Oomph marketing and design departments got our hands on the New iPad. Wow!

I was in two minds about whether the new retina display would really make that much of a difference that I’d need to upgrade. It didn’t take long to convince me. After flicking through some of our Oomph magazines such as the new Qantas iPad magazine and compared it side by side to the iPad 2. It’s like wearing new contact lenses that you didn’t know you needed! The text is so clear and the photographs so crisp. Even some of our earliest Gourmet Traveller iPad magazines circa June 2010 look phenomenal (with no changes required).

Oomph magazines look like this due to the fact that the Oomph digital publishing system is based on resolution independent formats like PDF and HTML and because these files are vector based, you can blow them up to any size and they will not distort. These resolution independent assets are combined with rendered assets such as images and video to create fully interactive pages. The new iPad will automatically scale these formats to match the screen resolution. With Oomph, text is clearer, sharper and easier to read.

Oomph Design Director Erica van der Walt agrees, ”The text literally pops off the page, PDF based text and graphics that are used in the majority of our magazines get enhanced so much more. It’s the little things, like shadows on a font. To replicate that in an image you would need a file almost quadruple in size.”

Moving forward, publishers can take further advantage of the New iPad by increasing the resolution of the rendered assets to match the new retina pixel density. This will have an affect on file size, but as these images are not used as the main content format, Oomph publications are not affected by the retina display to the same degree as other publishing platforms that rasterise pages to PNG files (rasterise means turn something into an image). These need to be increased in size to look as good and who wants to download a 2GB magazine?

We are proud to announce that Oomph is one of the key sponsors of “MPA Digital: Swipe” run by The Association of Magazine Media MPA . This sponsorship is part of our expansion program to reach a global market with our cutting edge digital publishing technology. Oomph CEO Keith Ahern is hosting a panel discussion at the event and will be exhibiting the latest Oomph technology to the American market.
About Swipe.

“MPA Digital: Swipe” is the world’s premier conference for magazine professionals focusing on tablets, e-readers, apps and mobile devices. The 2012 conference is a follow-up to MPA’s successful “MPA Digital: E-Reading” events, which ran in 2010 and 2011. The new name of the conference reflects the rapidly changing advances in technology over the past two years as computers, e-readers and smartphones have evolved into sophisticated mobile devices requiring a series of fluid swipes, pinches and taps to fully access the content.

The conference is designed to be an invaluable resource for publishers and editors seeking the insights and tools they need to capitalize on the mobile revolution. “MPA Digital: Swipe” will spotlight the best magazine apps and feature practical advice from seasoned tablet veterans.

“MPA Digital: Swipe” also features the American Society of Magazine Editors’ third annual National Magazine Awards for Digital Media – the Digital Ellies – presented during a gala luncheon immediately following the conference.

MPA digital conferences are the leading digital events for the consumer magazine industry. Since 2005, MPA Digital conferences have examined a wide array of digital platforms, services and topics impacting magazine brands with panels and speakers addressing mobile, video, search, advertising monetization and social networking issues. MPA digital conferences routinely bring together a stellar lineup of thought leaders, digital pioneers, Internet and mobile executives, journalists, and representatives from all sides of the magazine business. Attendees include digital leaders from all parts of the industry including CEOs, publishers, online marketers, web editors, video producers, podcasters, editors-in-chief and human resources executives.
