Key features

Map View – pan and zoom around a map of nearby penalised restaurants.
Search View – search for any restaurant or cafe.
Nearby View – see a list of nearby penalised restaurants.
See failed restaurants or all restaurants including scores.
Works without the internet. Note: the map view needs an internet connection.

The list is stored in the application for fast access. The app will download the latest database when connected to the internet.

All feedback is welcome, this app will evolve to meet user needs.

mogeneration apps top the App Store charts

Last week mogeneration released two iPhone applications, Coastalwatch (for Coastalwatch.com) and Food Watch NSW (a mogeneration product). Both applications rapidly shot up the app store charts to become the number 1 downloaded application in their respective categories.

Coastalwatch (app store link) went to No. 1 in the Sports category and is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars. Coastalwatch provides surf reports and live video cameras from over 100 locations around Australia.

Food Watch NSW (product info page) went to No. 1 in the Reference category and is rated 4 out of 5 stars. Food Watch NSW uses GPS to show nearby restaurants from the NSW Food Authority “name and shame list”.

mogeneration’s latest hit FoodWatch NSW has been featured in The Age:

A new iPhone app will tell you if a nearby restaurant has been fined for breach of food safety standards.

The application, FoodWatch NSW, brings the Food Authority’s name-and-shame list to your fingertips by using the iPhone’s GPS to show you a list of restaurants near your location that have been added to the list.

The software was developed by mogeneration and sources the data from the NSW Food Authority list on its website.

Chief executive officer of mogeneration Keith Ahern said that, when members of the company saw the list on the website, they thought the information provided was really valuable and useful.

“While I think a lot of restaurants aren’t happy about it [the list], you can see the information and make your own decision,” he said.

mogeneration have created, but not released, an iPhone app version of the NSW Food Authority Penalty Notice list. The app is called Food Watch NSW.

mogeneration republish the information without modification. We geocode the addresses so they can be shown on a google map inside the application. The app automatically downloads a new database as the information become available.
